Dear Julian, could you please explain the phrase – You’d better pace yourself – you had/would/should? Thanks in advance.
There’s a good definition here:
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pace%20oneself
Does that help? 🙂
Thank you, Julian, but my question was about the structure – “you’d”. ‘d – is it “had” or “would”?
Ahhhh, I see.
Had.
That said, it’s far more natural to say “you’d” – “you had better” sounds stiff.
Thank you.
